Professional archaeologist at the Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research for 25 years, René Chemin will talk about the ancient history of Maurienne known by archaeology. Very few discoveries have been made thanks to scientific excavations except the research of Éric Thirault in the plain and the passes of Bessans. For more than fifty years, René Chemin has been digging in the Haute Maurienne, the Sollières cave is an example, but above all he has been monitoring all construction, irrigation and road works. This monitoring has made it possible to advance knowledge of the unwritten past of the valley. This conference will be illustrated with many photographs and exchanges are desired with the public.
