Description
Association for the promotion of the current and past heritage of Bessans. To discover the nature, the culture, the history, the traditions and the topicality of a particularly attractive place and its inhabitants. Bessans, a village in Haute-Maurienne, at the extreme limit of life at altitude, where Savoyard and Piedmontese influences are combined, which has kept its traditions for a long time.
Its heritage is important from both a historical and linguistic point of view. It retains traces of a singular way of life.
This is followed by a consequent work of research and archiving in the form of photos, films, sound recordings, written documents, collection of objects... etc
This very rich collection is published and exhibited in the form of magazine issues, books, exhibitions and various animations of which you can have an overview on the site, abundantly documented and interactive.
BJA is also interested in the evolutions that have led from the village, entirely agropastoral, to the village-resort of Nordic sports and hiking.
The public presence of the association is particularly intense on the occasion of summer events (conferences, outings, stands, exhibitions).
