Description
The rich heritage of Val Cenis-Termignon offers a host of enriching activities for locals and tourists alike, whatever the season. The Association Patrimoine et Développement de Termignon is dedicated to protecting and promoting it. * Natural heritage first and foremost: our beautiful landscapes conceal treasures that are sometimes unsuspected. The mountains boast a wide variety of rocks, highlighted by the "Termignon au fil des roches" exhibition and accompanying brochure. The flora abounds in magnificent flowers, varied trees and shrubs, and medicinal plants, presented since 2016 by the Voie des Plantes, on the old Salt Road leading from the Villard bridge to the Vanoise National Park. To better welcome hikers, the association maintains the hiking trails every summer, and during the winter, the Nordic domain offers (free of charge) groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the Doron valley as far as the Pont du Villard.
* Architectural heritage: numerous oratories, chapels and calvaries line the trails, offering an added pleasure to hikers. However, these buildings are fragile and require a great deal of upkeep: our team of volunteers has undertaken to identify and restore them. A jewel of Savoyard Baroque, the parish church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption has been the subject of a restoration campaign led by the association and the commune of Val-Cenis, in partnership with the Fondation du Patrimoine.
Today, the guiding principle of our action is the creation of ETAP (Explorer Termignon à pied), a network of itineraries radiating out from the heart of the village. ETAP 1, inaugurated in June 2023, runs through the streets of the village, telling its story. Since 2024, ETAP 2 and ETAP 3, created in partnership with the ONF, the commune and the département, have offered two nature walks featuring animal sculptures. Other itineraries are in the pipeline...
During the Termignon fair on October 6, 2024, a bread oven was inaugurated in the village square. It was built by members of the association with the support of the Val-Cenis commune. Intended to operate around ten times a year, it is now a place of entertainment and intergenerational gathering.
Finally, a new agreement with the Fondation du Patrimoine has enabled us to organize a subscription campaign to renovate the Saint-André chapel and its precious Jean Clappier altarpiece, seriously threatened by the dampness affecting the building.
Our annual events include the organization of the Termignonaise edition of World Cleanup Day and participation in the Termignon fair, held on the first Sunday in October.
Many residents and visitors have joined us, and everyone can participate by joining the association.
